We are Designed for Relationships and Connection

Get Connected

It is wired into the very fabric of our being to partner, connect and be in community with other people. And…nothing creates the kind of pain and hurt that unsafe, broken and disconnected relationships brings us.

That is why helping people bring healing and transformation into their most important relationships is one of my greatest joys as a therapist. Hurting relationships can be a disruption to our entire lives, but safe and connected relationships can help us weather all of life's other challenges.

Feel Safe

My primary belief regarding relationships is that when they are working well, they help us feel safe with and connected to the other person. When they are not working well, we often feel unsafe, disconnected and alone.

I use a combination of Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) in my relationship work. Both are proven methods to help couples in intimate relationships feel more connected and communicate in healthier ways that foster that connection. The goal of our work together is not to eliminate all potential areas of conflict, but rather to create enough safety and closeness in the relationship that working through those conflicts doesn’t result in a fracture in the relationship.

Couples Therapy Intensives are a great way to bring about this safety and connection. In my previous work with couples using the standard 50 minute sessions, it often wasn’t until over 30 minutes into the session that we got past talking about the anger over the dishwasher not getting loaded correctly to the fact that someone felt unimportant or rejected. That is where the real healing begins, but then it's almost time to wrap up. Therapy Intensives provide the time to get to the real issues keeping you disconnected from the person you love the most and the space to truly hear each other and find each other again.
